Creating the Digipak (final Result)

This is the Digipak i created, to promote our Artist and record label there were several influences that helped me create this deigns.

I made the Digipak by using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe illustrator
Photoshop enabled me to edit and manipulate the design at a pixel level, i used various effects such as the crop tool, black and white filter, duo tone filter as well as the magic want and transform tool.

Step 1

I began by using this design template i drew this layout and scanned it in on the computer it is a layout that is similar to my Sway album i have at home. i edited the template on photoshop and marked the panels so i could structure the layout.

Step 2
At this stage i used the Transform tool on rasterized text to manipulate the size and scale of the typography to make it more visually appealing.

Step 3
at this stage i decided to play with the connotations behind the design of my digipak, in order to make it appeal to my target audience i decided to feature an image of the Artist and a featuring female actor togather, which is also a still from the music video; i then made it black and white by grayscaling the image and i made it red by adding a duo tone of red and black.

the use of red is to connote love and make the representtion/ star image of the artist appeal the the hip-hop and R&B music genre.

Step 4
Step for i implemented an image of both male actor and female actress hugging under an umbrella i thought the connotations behind this image were significant in terms of the representation of the Artist, this image drew from various external influences such as the old time classical film Singing in the rain which is a love song that i am currently promoting in Graphics Design A2.

Step 5

creating the front cover was the most challenging panel out of the digipak the reason for this was because i was because i wanted to keep within the conventions of hip-hop and R&B whilst trying to be unique at the same time the end result is the image below which i think is very successful in terms of its design style, colour scheme, typographic style and an effective way of promoting the brand.
